Yaser A. Sheikh
Yaser Sheikh is Director of Meta Reality Lab. He co-founded the lab in 2015 to focus on building telepresence solutions, enabling remote interactions in AR/VR that are indistinguishable from reality. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at the Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, with appointments in the Mechanical Engineering Department. He currently serves as a consulting professor at Carnegie Mellon University. His research has been focused on machine perception and rendering of social behavior, spanning sub-disciplines in computer vision, computer graphics, and machine learning. He has published his work at the top academic journals & conferences including SIGGRAPH, CVPR, ICCV. His research has also been featured by various media outlets including The New York Times, The Verge, Popular Science, BBC, MSNBC, New Scientist, slashdot, and WIRED.

Qasar Younis

Founder & CEO - Applied Intuition
Qasar Younis is the Co-Founder and CEO of Applied Intuition. Before founding Applied Intuition, Younis was a Partner and COO of Y Combinator, a prominent venture accelerator in Silicon Valley. Prior to Y Combinator, Younis founded a technology firm, which was later acquired by Google, and worked as an automotive engineer at General Motors and Bosch. Younis has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University (formerly known as General Motors Institute) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Sarah Tariq

VP Autonomous Driving Software - NVIDIA
Sarah Tariq is the VP of Autonomous Driving Software at NVIDIA, where she helps lead efforts to develop NVIDIA’s world-class AV platform, NVIDIA DRIVE. Sarah oversees a team responsible for providing some of the core software pieces of this platform, including the perception, localization, mapping, prediction, and planning and control stacks. Before this, Sarah spent six years at Zoox, helping develop autonomous driving in challenging urban environments, including downtown San Francisco. At Zoox, Sarah worked on delivering critical components of the perception stack, leading the vision and perception teams, and helping the cross-functional effort to improve the overall driving capabilities and performance of the Zoox vehicle. Prior to this, Sarah spent a decade at NVIDIA working in several areas, including real-time simulation and rendering, performance optimization for high-performance computing, and computer vision. Sarah got her masters in Computer Science at Georgia Tech and her BSc at LUMS.

Dr Faisal Shafait

Professor - SEECS, NUST
Prof. Dr. Faisal Shafait has 15+ years of research and teaching experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with the primary focus on computer vision and document image analysis. He completed his PhD in Computer Engineering from Technical University of Kaiserslautern (TUKL), Germany in 2008 with highest distinction. Currently, he is working as a Professor and is heading the Department of Computing at School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), NUST, Pakistan as well as the Deep Learning Lab (DLL) under National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), NUST, Pakistan. Dr. Faisal has made a significant international reputation in the field of Artificial Intelligence by earning 10,000+ citations with i10 and h indices of 148 and 50 (Google Scholar) respectively. He received the prestigious IAPR/ICDAR Young Investigator Award by the International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR) in 2019 and has recently been included in the list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists compiled by Stanford University.

Russell Kaplan

Head of Nucleus - Scale AI
Russell Kaplan is the Head of Scale Nucleus, Scale’s dataset management platform for ML teams. Before joining Scale, Russell founded and was the CEO of Helia AI, a computer vision startup which Scale acquired in 2020. Previously, Russell was a senior machine learning scientist on Tesla’s Autopilot team, and he received his M.S. and B.S. from Stanford University, where he was a researcher in the Stanford Vision Lab advised by Fei-Fei Li.

Warda Inam

Co-founder & CEO - Overjet
Dr. Wardah Inam is the CEO of Overjet. Overjet is the leading provider of AI solutions for the dental industry to help improve patient care. She has been ranked among the 32 most influential people in dentistry by Incisal Edge. Prior to founding Overjet, she led product management at a silicon valley based healthcare startup, Q Bio, working on biomedical imaging. Before that, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab where she worked on remote biomedical sensing using machine learning on wireless signals. Dr. Inam received a PhD from MIT, where she developed AI-powered autonomous microgrid technology. This work received widespread recognition including National Geographic covering it as a breakthrough that could transform the way we power the world. She has also worked on imaging technology at GE Healthcare and at Apple. She’s the recipient of the MIT Graduate Women of Excellence Award and the first person in the history of GIKI to receive GIKI University, Faculty and Presidential Gold Medals.

Baber Shaikh

A native of Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Baber has 20+ years of progressive engineering management & leadership experience with expertise in delivering highly visible products and strategic business opportunities. His academic pursuits include an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, and both an EMPA and a MBA from the University of Washington, with a specialization in Technology. Ankit Jain

Founder & CEO - Infinitus

Ankit Jain is a serial entrepreneur and Founder & CEO of healthcare automation company, Infinitus Systems, Inc. Prior to founding Infinitus in 2019, Ankit was a Founding Partner at Gradient Ventures and a Director of Engineering at Google. Previously, he was the Vice President of Product at SimilarWeb, which he joined via the acquisition of mobile intelligence startup Quettra that he founded and led as CEO. Prior to Quettra, Ankit was the Head of Search, Discovery and Infrastructure for Google Play, which he joined through the acquisition of Cuil. At Cuil, he helped build several parts of the web, real time and social search engines from scratch.

Mohsen Ali

Assistant Professor - Information Technology University
Dr. Mohsen Ali, is an Assistant Professor at Information Technology University (ITU) and a co-founder of the Intelligent Machines Lab. His current research interests include domain adaptation and self-supervised learning. He has been pursuing a multi-disciplinary problem of understanding urbanization and economic condition by combining information from satellite imagery analysis and geospatial datasets. His work has been published in reputable computer vision and machine learning venues. Mohsen Ali obtained a doctorate from the University of Florida. He is a Fulbright alumnus and is currently advising the Computer Vision and Machine Learning group at ITU.He has been awarded the Google Research Scholar Award, and as co-PI has won CV4GC grant from Facebook, AI For Earth Initiative grant from National Geographic & Microsoft, and a grant from ETRI for 3D reconstruction problem.

Selim Turki

Tunisian by birth, French by culture and Italian by heart, Selim spent most of his life in France before moving to the UAE in 2013. Selim was exposed to his father’s entrepreneurial spirit from a young age, shaping who he is today. His love for mathematics compelled him to specialize in Statistics and pursue a Master’s degree in Statistics & Econometrics from Toulouse School of Economics in France and an EMBA from INSEAD. This marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial career path, with one key motivational driver: to live a purposeful life and make a tangible impact on others’ lives. Statistician at heart and protagonist to build, scale up and mature unicorn tech businesses, Selim brings over 2 decades of experience in digital and on-demand industries. Selim was one of the founding team members of both the Toluna Group, which had a buyout of $250M before joining Careem in 2013 and helped build the region’s first tech unicorn, with a buyout of $3.1B.
Today, Selim is the Head of Data & AI at Careem, looking after all the elements related to data; from its initial point of getting ingested from different applications and processed in Careem’s systems to consumption via Analysis and Visualisation, Heuristics and ML models.

Mohamad Charafeddine

VP of Product for Mobility Platform - Careem ​
Born and raised in Lebanon, Dr. Mohamad Charafeddine graduated from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. His academic pursuits later took him to the United States before moving to Dubai in 2019. Graduating from Stanford University with a doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Mohamad continued his studies at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley with a Master’s in Business Administration. Hosting a wealth of knowledge in the engineering sphere, Mohamad worked at Samsung as a Director to lead the Applied AI research and development team and successfully built the first enterprise AI platform for Reinforcement Learning and Deep Learning at scale, in 2015, before moving to the Core ML team for Business Integrity at Facebook in Menlo Park, United States to classify and manage advertising content across Facebook and Instagram.
Amongst his many achievements, Mohamad published over 16 papers in international conferences and journals, with his research winning Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Communication as well as owning two patents. With a passion to grow the entrepreneurship and venture capital (VC) ecosystem, Mohamad is a VC Advisor and investment committee member since 2015 for Arzan VC Fund I and Fund II supporting early-stage startups in the MENA region.

Khurram Zafar

Managing Partner - 47 Ventures Investments
Khurram Zafar⁩ is the Managing Partner of 47 Ventures Investments, a Pakistan-focused VC fund with a portfolio comprising of health-tech, retail-tech, mobility, ad-tech and mobile gaming companies. He founded the Center for Entrepreneurship at LUMS and later raised public funds to scale it into National Incubation Center that scouts, grooms, and connects startup- and micro-entrepreneurs with business partners, mentors and investors. Khurram is also a member of Prime Minister’s Task Force driving policy making for Knowledge Economy and a Director at Karandaaz Pakistan, a DFID and Gates Foundation funded SPV promoting financial inclusion and investments in SMEs.

Dr. Faisal Kamiran

He has over 12 years experience on creating data analytics solutions to guide government and corporate entities. Furthermore, he is an Associate Professor and the Director of Crime and Investigation Lab and Director Data Science Lab at Information Technology University (ITU) in Lahore. Dr. Agha Ali Raza

Assistant Professor - LUMS

Dr. Agha Ali Raza is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at LUMS and the founding director of the Center for Speech and Language Technologies (CSaLT). He is a Fulbright Scholar. He received his Ph.D. from the Language Technologies Institute, School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. His cumulative teaching experience as part of the Computer Science faculty at FAST-NU, ITU, and LUMS spans twelve years.
He has designed the courses of Natural Language Processing, Speech Processing, and Machine Learning from scratch that he teaches at graduate and undergraduate levels. His research focuses on Speech & Natural Language Processing, Speech-based Human-Computer Interfaces, Machine Learning, and Information & Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D). Through his research, he aims to enable information access and connectivity for under-connected and under-served populations (low-literate, low-income, tech naïve, visually impaired, linguistically / socially marginalized, geographically remote communities, and oral cultures) throughout the developing world. His work focuses on developing speech-based information services and social networks accessible over simple and feature phones to be used as vehicles for large-scale dissemination of development-related information, pulling information via real-time surveys, and performing randomized controlled trials and demographic studies. 
These services also provide target marginalized populations with a voice and a digital social identity. His work in Speech and Language technologies focuses on localizing linguistic resources and techniques to the Pakistani and South Asian context to develop Speech Recognition, Text-to-Speech, Voice-biometrics, Spoken Term Detection, and relevant capabilities. His interests in Machine Learning include creating and detecting Urdu audio deepfakes, rapid and organic collection of language datasets, and techniques including dataset pruning to bring large datasets within reach of moderate computing resources. His research has been funded by Google Inc., Facebook research, UNICEF Innovations Fund, the Gates Foundation, GIZ, NIH, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI), and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Over the last four years, the benefits of his research have directly impacted the lives of more than 300,000 people via various projects in Pakistan, India, and West Africa. His novel approach to mass-disseminate information about job opportunities to low-literate mobile phone users in Pakistan received the 2013 best paper award at the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems. In 2019, his work was awarded an Honorable mention at CHI for coming up with a unique method to disseminate maternal health information to expectant parents in developing countries. He has been an Associate Chair for CHI since 2019, the short papers PC chair for ICTD 2017, and the open session chair for ICTD 2022. For several years, he has been a PC member for ICTD, ACM COMPASS (formerly ACM DEV), LREC, and a reviewer for CHI, CSCW, NLE, and ACM TALLIP.

Inderjeet Singh

VP Engineering, AI Driver Safety & Compliance Products - Motive

Inderjeet heads engineering for AI, Safety, & Compliance products at Motive. Inderjeet started his career at the Java Platform group at Sun Microsystems and helped create the J2EE platform. Subsequently, at Google, Inderjeet led the engineering team to build the first payments system for Android / Google Play. He then founded a mobile multiplayer gaming company, Trymph, that was acquired by Peel Technologies. At Peel, Inderjeet headed engineering to build a mobile app with over 700 million downloads that provided a Universal Remote and a TV Guide all over the world. Inderjeet holds an MS in Management from Stanford University, MS in CS from Washington University in Saint Louis, and a B.Tech. in CSE from IIT Delhi.

Faisal is a Co-Founder of Zayn Capital; He is the Managing Partner of Zayn BitRate Fund, a venture capital fund with a primary focus on seed stage ventures in Pakistan. Faisal is also the Founder of BitRate Digital Assets, a Crypto Fund designed to give exposure to Institutional Investors & Family Offices.
